Description

Unlock the world of reading with our engaging and transformative reading program. This dynamic course based on the Orton-Gillingham approach for reading is designed to lay a strong foundation for literacy by incorporating a variety of sensory experiences to enhance phonemic awareness skills.

This course will rotate through 12 foundational lessons. Learners are welcome to repeat lessons until they have mastered the concepts and skills. We have a number of activities for each lesson so while the lesson content repeats the activities worked on may or may not.

In this course learners will cover:

The Alphabet's Musical Duo - Vowels and Consonants

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to differentiate between vowels and consonants, recognize them in words, and understand their distinct roles in language.

 

Counting Letters and Words – Let's Play with Language!

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to count letters in a word and count words in a sentence with accuracy and confidence.

 

Syllable Sleuths – Let’s Count Syllables!

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to identify and count the number of syllables in words and phrases. Counting syllables is one of the fundamental phonemic awareness skills for beginning reading. 

 

Rhyme Time Adventure

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to recognize and identify rhyming words, enhancing their phonemic awareness and language skills.

 

Sound Detectives 

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to segment the sounds in words, enhancing their phonemic awareness and phonics skills.

 

Beginning Sound Bonanza

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to recognize and identify the beginning sounds of words, strengthening their phonemic awareness and foundational reading skills.

 

End Sound Extravaganza

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to recognize and identify the ending sounds or letters of words, enhancing their phonemic awareness and reinforcing their foundational reading skills.

 

Middle Sound Marvel

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to recognize and identify the middle sounds in words, enhancing their phonemic awareness and strengthening their foundational reading skills.

 

Sound Fusion Fiesta 

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to blend individual sounds together to form complete words, enhancing their phonemic awareness and decoding skills.

 

Phoneme Substitution Spectacle 

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to understand and practice phoneme substitution, enhancing their phonemic awareness and word manipulation skills.

 

Phoneme Playhouse

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to identify and manipulate phonemes within words, specifically focusing on phoneme deletion.

 

Phoneme Funhouse

Objective: when mastered, learners will be able to manipulate phonemes within words through activities focused on addition, deletion, and substitution.

 

Restrictions

Participants must be 5 years and 6 months to 12 years old when the program starts.
