Middle School - Spanish Level 1

You probably have heard the proverb that says: "to learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world." In other words, speaking a foreign language changes our way of thinking and increases our ability to communicate effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds.

In Spanish Level 1," you will explore the world through the eyes of Spanish speakers. We will delve into the lives of Spanish and Latin American teens to learn what they enjoy doing in their daily life. Through songs, comics, videos, and magazines, we will learn expressions related to school, family, and sports, among other topics, which will allow you to develop basic conversational skills in Spanish, as well as a basic understanding of various characteristics of Spanish-speaking cultures.

This class uses a task-based approach, which means that, at the end of each unit, you will complete a project with a real-life application. The objective of the tasks is to help you improve your communication skills and your confidence as well as to strengthen your understanding of the language. Although this is a Spanish class, we will also study learning strategies that can be applied to a broad range of subjects.

The class consists of 1 x per week - 55 min sessions (No classes Canadian stat holidays, Dec 18 - Dec 29, and Apr 1 - 12th)

No previous experience with Spanish is needed. Enrolment is ongoing, and fees are prorated so learners can join anytime.

This class requires the commitment of 15 learners to run.
