Description

Each Letter of the Week class will focus on one letter of the alphabet (the letter will remain the same for the entire week for easy of planning for families and if they choose, beneficial repetition for young learners). Learners will be encouraged to practice saying and recognizing the letter and its sound.

Letter of the Week classes are a dynamic way for young learners to focus on one letter of the alphabet at a time. Classes can be taken in any order. Each class learners will focus on one letter by writing and tracing the letter, hearing the letter sound in various contexts, and searching for real examples of the letter sound in their learning environment.

Class Routine:

  • Welcome Song
  • Sing ABC's
  • Today’s letter is… It sounds like this, We find in these 5 words
  • Can you find something in your room that starts with our letter?
  • Let’s trace the letter. Using a pan with flour, rice or sand, trace the letter with your finger. Now practice tracing a few times. OR Make our letter using play dough.
  • Let’s write the letter. Using a white board and a marker, write the letter. When you’re finished, hold it up to the camera so we can all see!
