Description

There's something about bubbles that we just can't get enough of! Bubbles... so simple, a pocket of air enclosed in a thin film of soapy water, yet so fascinating and exciting! Bubbles introduce learners to concepts of solutions, gas, air, pressure, elasticity, soap films, liquids, and surface tension but honestly, we love the so much because they're fun and messy!

Supplies needed:

  • Medium size pan or bucket for bubble solution
  • 1/2 cup Dishwashing soap
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 TSP sugar
  • Variety of supplies as bubble wands - a piece of wire or pipe cleaner bent into a hoop, a small plastic bottle with the end cut off, an old sock etc.

Bubbles can be messy! Tip - when unable to blow bubbles outside one way to enjoy bubbles inside is to stand kiddos outside the bathtub on a towel and either place the bucket of solution on the floor next to them or hold it for them just over the tub and have them blow the bubbles into the tub area. Having the bucket inside the tub but elevated so littles are not reaching over and down into the tub works too. Exercise caution as everything will get wet and soapy and as a result slippery!

Note to parents: Parents are responsible for keeping their children safe. While parents are not permitted to actively be on camera and participate in class parents are always welcome to be nearby to support learners and during Science Corner, it's requested that parents stay with young learners to help them through each experiment. Also, note that while each class is scheduled for 25 min Science Corner classes may end early depending on how quickly learners move through the experiments.
